Vendor E-VAT claims are the vendors’ own; we found no public GRA list of approved systems to confirm them. Under GRA’s rules, a business’s POS is E-VAT compliant once it is integrated with GRA’s invoicing system and approved. “Not confirmed” means the provider’s page did not say so when we checked.

What should a POS do for a Ghana business?

Customers pay by MoMo, card, bank transfer and cash, so the POS should record every payment method against the same sale. It should track stock and profit by branch, keep selling during power and network cuts, and produce receipts that meet GRA’s E-VAT rules if you are VAT-registered.

How much does a POS system cost in Ghana?

Ghana-based POS software ranges from free plans (CliqPOS Free Forever, Loyverse) to about GH₵90–GHS 799 per month for paid plans (HilsonPOS, SellarPro, CliqPOS). EliteTeQ POS starts from USD 499 per year. Hubtel’s Retailer app is free; payment fees are charged separately by the provider.

Does my POS need GRA E-VAT?

If you are VAT-registered, yes. GRA’s E-VAT is a certified invoicing system: every VAT invoice or receipt is certified in real time and carries a QR code and signature. It is being rolled out in phases, large taxpayers from April 2024 and a second group from September 2024, with remaining VAT-registered businesses brought on as GRA directs.

From 1 January 2026, VAT is 15% plus 2.5% NHIL and 2.5% GETFund (20% in total), and the VAT registration threshold for goods rose to GH₵750,000. A business can comply through GRA’s free invoicing software or app, or through a POS integrated with GRA. EliteTeQ can integrate with GRA E-VAT.

How to choose a POS in Ghana

  • E-VAT: if you are VAT-registered, ask for written confirmation that the POS is integrated with GRA.
  • MoMo, card and cash: every payment method should land on the same sale record.
  • Offline selling: the till should keep working through power and network cuts.
  • Branches: check how many locations each plan includes.
  • Currency: some providers bill in US dollars, so factor in the exchange rate.
