1. Register on the iTax portal
Log in to iTax, open the eTIMS section, and pick POS Integration (VSCU) as your method. KRA gives you your Service Initialization credentials:
- Device serial number
- Communication key
- Your TIN / KRA PIN confirmation

2. Enter your credentials in EliteTeQ

3. Set your VAT categories
Assign every product and service to the right tax band so receipts calculate correctly:
- A — Standard rate (16%)

- D — Non-VAT
- E — Special relief
A common mistake is dumping everything into Standard. Sort items like unprocessed foods or exempt services into the correct band now, and you'll avoid messy corrections later.
4. Run a test sale
Ring up one test transaction. EliteTeQ transmits it, and KRA sends back a CU Invoice Number and a QR code. That QR code prints on the customer receipt, and anyone can scan it to confirm the invoice is genuine. If the number and code come back, you're working.
5. Go live
Turn eTIMS on for all sales, then walk your cashiers through the new receipt format so nobody panics when a customer asks about the QR code. Confirm your internet is stable, and make sure offline queuing is enabled as a backup.
When the Internet Drops
